Who we are

The Global Cultural Peace Walk in Nepal (GCPW Nepal) is likely a grassroots initiative aimed at fostering peace, understanding, and cultural exchange. It might involve individuals from various backgrounds coming together to walk and engage in activities that promote cultural appreciation, dialogue, and harmony. As a loose forum, it likely operates with flexibility, allowing participants to organize events, discussions, and other activities along the route. This initiative could serve as a platform for building connections, raising awareness about cultural diversity, and advocating for peace-building efforts in Nepal and beyond with different actors since 2017 AD mainly “Walk with Cultural Peace Lamp”. GCPW Nepal is organizing the Walk with Cultural Peace Lamp of 2024 in collaboration of Peace Tourism, World Forum for Buddhism and Namo Buddha International Cities of Peace.

Management Team

The World Forum for Buddhism – Peace Edition serves as a specialized hub bringing together leaders, scholars, and practitioners from diverse Buddhist traditions. Their collective focus is on exploring Buddhism’s fundamental teachings to cultivate peace at personal, societal, and global levels. Acting as a catalyst, this forum fosters dialogue, collaboration, and practical steps toward conflict resolution, social unity, and inner tranquility. Through conferences, seminars, and proactive initiatives, it taps into Buddhism’s transformative essence, highlighting values such as compassion, mindfulness, and non-violence. By addressing contemporary challenges, it aims to significantly contribute to a more harmonious and peaceful world. Since 2017, the WFfB has been involved in the Walk with Cultural Peace Lamp initiative in different activities, collaborating with various organizations.  Five members Management Team has been established within a consortium spearheaded by the World Forum for Buddhism, comprising representation from Halin Newa Guthi. Empowered by full authorization, this team is tasked with organizing events, leveraging creative guidance from the board and inspired suggestions from Board.

Halin Newa Guthi (World Newa Trust), a registered Nepali organization, serves as a central networking platform for Newar communities worldwide, particularly those spanning the Nepa Mandal region across Nepal, India, Europe, and the Americas. Its primary goal is to preserve and promote the rich artistic and cultural heritage inherited from their ancestors, notably from the Lichhivi and Malla dynasties, aiming to foster a society characterized by peace, harmony, and communal happiness. With passionate dedication, the Guthi spearheads efforts to uncover and disseminate the hidden arts and cultures left by their forebears, establishing close partnerships with like-minded individuals and organizations. Through its participation in the “Walk with Cultural Peace Lamp” event on September 21 to 23,  2024, the Guthi endeavors to share its culture, contributing to the groundwork for the upcoming Global Culture Peace Walk in Nepal.

Fund Management

This program is dedicated to philanthropy, aiming to enhance the well-being of individuals and society by promoting inner peace. Both individuals and corporate entities are encouraged to participate in this noble cause. We welcome contributions and donations in the form of goods and services. Specifically, the event requires items such as uniforms (T-shirts, caps), food, and transportation. We are delighted to provide detailed estimates of the budget and explain how you can contribute, tailored to your convenience. Monetary contributions can be made through digital banking or by depositing funds into our designated bank account, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Funds will be raised through two methods:

  1. Participants can choose to join by depositing the specified tariff into the designated bank account provided during registration. Alternatively, they may join for free if the event secures sponsorship or donations. Those interested in applying for free admission will be promptly notified if this opportunity becomes available.
  2. The funds generated from individual tariffs alone will not be sufficient to cover the costs of uniforms, trekking gear, food, and backup transportation, among other expenses. Therefore, the World Forum for Buddhism (WFfB) will seek sponsorship and donations from both individuals and corporate entities to bridge the gap in expenses (budget). Sponsors and donors will be approached to contribute goods such as T-shirts, caps, food, and transportation to meet these needs. A detailed list of requirements will be provided to interested sponsors and donors, finalized based on their preferences and contributions.
