Nestled gracefully between the big countries, India and China, Nepal proudly showcases its natural splendor, cradled by the majestic Himalayas, crowned by none other than the towering Mt. Everest. This blessed land has bestowed upon us numerous brave and compassionate souls, such as Prince Mahasatwa, who sacrificed himself to save a hungry tigress and her cubs nearly 6000 years ago. Siddhartha Gautam Buddha, born in Nepal 2600 years ago, has become synonymous with peace in our time. His teachings illuminate the path to peace, inspiring countless followers. Discussions on peace inevitably lead to Buddha\u2019s profound philosophy.<\/span><\/p>

Following his enlightenment, Buddha journeyed to his birth place Lumbini then move for Kathmandu to pay homage to Swayambhu. During this trip, he also visited Hiranya Gandhaman Parvat to honor his past life, where his remains were interred. Meditating for a month at the burial site, he circled the mound three times, bowing with a reverent \u201cNamaste\u201d and uttering \u201cNa:Ma Buddha\u201d Since then, this place has been known as Na:Ma Buddha, though the term has been mistakenly confused with \u201cNamo Buddha\u201d in modern times.<\/span><\/p>

Three other significant figures include delivering peace message:<\/span><\/p>

Prince Bhrikuti (\u0f56\u0f63\u0f0b\u0f58\u0f7c\u0f0b\u0f56\u0f5f\u0f0b\u0f41\u0fb2\u0f72\u0f0b\u0f56\u0f59\u0f74\u0f53\u0f0bBal-mo-bza\u2019 Khri-btsun, Bhelsa Tritsun) from Nepal, who was married off at the tender age of eight to the Tibetan emperor. She propagated the teachings of Buddhism in Tibet during the sixth century, later revered as Green Tara<\/span><\/li><\/ol>
    1. b) Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava, born in Afghanistan and enlightened in Nepal, disseminated the Vajrayana teachings from Tibet in the seventh century.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>

        Nepal, it seems, has long been a fountainhead of peace, a notion reinforced in the 19th century following the world wars. This is evident in the significant visits to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, notably by Mr. Dag Hammarskjold in 1959. This tradition has persisted, with all subsequent UN Secretaries-General, including Antonio Guterres, making pilgrimage to Lumbini. Moreover, high-level delegates from various UN agencies and countries continue to pay their respects. Notably, during his last visit to Nepal, the Prime Minister of India, Honorable Narendra Modi, also paid homage to Buddha\u2019s birthplace.<\/span><\/p>
